A chance meeting, a desire to give back to the world, and a whole lot of passion created Global Good Fair Trade. Global Good's mission is to support artisans, primarily women from developing countries through Fair Trade practices and provide a platform for their communities to build a sustainable future.

Raised in Kansas and trained as a teacher in California, Laurie Dahl, Founder of Global Good never served as a Peace Corps volunteer as she had always dreamt but knew in her heart she would fulfill her need to make a global difference

As a Mom to three beautiful young children, Laurie was drawn to kindred spirit Dame Anita Roddick, founder of The Body Shop. Roddick's commitment "to dedicate her business to the pursuit of social and environmental change" ignited Laurie's desire to learn more about global concepts. As a home consultant for The Body Shop, Laurie set out to learn more about the concept of Community Trade. One example of a Community Trade supplier was Tungteiya in Ghana, where Anita and The Body Shop Foundation gave initial help by providing grinding mills and nut cracking plants to help with the extraction of shea butter - this for the first time enabled the women of the Tamale region to earn a regular and reliable income, afford schooling, medical care, build and improve their homes.

A pivotal moment transpired when Laurie had a fortuitous meeting with a Peace Corps Alumni who worked closely with the Founder of Global Mamas. Global Mamas is a Fair Trade organization located in Ghana, West Africa supporting the sustainable development of women artisans by producing and exporting fair trade products. After hearing the Global Mamas story and seeing the beautiful products they created, Laurie had an epiphany and knew she found her calling!

Quickly learning about micro financing in developing countries, Laurie researched the principles and impact of fair trade products. Her studies taught her that by empowering women in developing countries it gave them an opportunity to build a sustainable future for their families and communities. With this concept, Global Good Fair Trade was born.

Global Good now promotes numerous non-profit organizations that support world artists through their Fair Trade practices. Laurie personally selects groups based on their mission and their ability to improve the quality of global artisans' lives and control over their futures. Currently Global Good supports groups in Ghana, Haiti, Uganda, Colombia, Guatemala and Nepal. Every Global Good purchase supports sustainable businesses that positively influence their communities.

We look forward to seeing you and sharing the inspirational stories of our artisans. For upcoming shows we will be attending, check out our calendar of events and follow us on Facebook

Much gratitude to you in your support of our artisans and making a difference,
Laurie Dahl
